The end user computing engineer will be responsible for:

  • Keeping software up to date in the WorkSpaces environment (PDQ).
  • Working with users to announce when major updates are taking place. This includes coordinating with test users via the User Researcher to understand how we can cause minimal disruption during updates, and sell the benefits of upgrades as an improvement to the user experience.
  • Responding to any incidents raise via the service desk regarding issues that users are having with apps. For example, ‘I tried to download this R package from CRAN and got this error’. We don’t expect somebody to come with all the knowledge to answer questions about every piece of software. We definitely don’t have all the answers. Investigation & troubleshooting skills are what’s required.
