Tooling Engineering Lead

Work mode: Hybrid – regular travel to Corsham

Rate: £547.43 inc holiday pay

Job Description: D2S Tools at S* team will deliver access and support for key tools within MOD at S*, supporting the software delivery teams with the tooling they need to manage their projects. 

As a Tooling Engineer you will: 

• Carry out technical discovery into the planned tooling architecture 
• Define process for using infrastructure as code for tooling deployment, configuration and subsequent maintenance patches 
• Validate security controls including authentication policies, configuration of tool to maintain information separation and security; aligning to ‘need to know’ principle 
• Agree principles for the tooling, including the following: tooling assurance requirements, tooling security requirements 
• Preferred software hosting/architecture 
• Containerisation and Kubernetes approach 

Through life management approach: 

• Define and validate the tooling configuration strategy against user requirements for Beta deployment
• Use infrastructure as code (Terraform) for tooling deployment and subsequent maintenance patches within the GitOps framework 
• Use Helm to manage Kubernetes applications 
• Work in an Agile scrum team, you’ll work in 2 week sprints prioritising items for the current and next sprint that align with the sprint goals 
• Have a hybrid working pattern with approximately 50% time onsite with the client team in Corsham and 50% remote working
